How do I access my website?
You and your friends can access your website via the automatically set up website sub-domain (e.g. http://name.website.orange.co.uk), which is automatically set up and which must be entered into the address bar of your browser.

Alternatively you can log in to your Website Control Centre at http://website.orange.co.uk and click on the button "view website".

I can't access my website. Why not?
One of the most common reasons for this is an error in typing the Internet address. Please be careful when doing so. Maintenance work may also be a reason for short-term unavailability. If this is the case, an information page is usually displayed. If your site is still not available, please contact our support team.

What is a sub-domain and what is the sub-domain for my website?
Upon registering with the Orange Website Maker you will automatically receive a sub-domain (web address) for your website. This is usually called http://name.website.orange.co.uk.

Can I change the address of my subdomain?
Yes. Log in to http://website.orange.co.uk and click on "my user details" on the left-hand navigation. You will then be able to change your subdomain via the "change subdomain" link.

Can I use my website without a desired domain name as well?
Of course you can. Upon registering with the Orange Website Maker you will also automatically receive a sub-domain for your website (e.g. http://name.website.orange.co.uk).

How can I change my user data (email address, password, payment details, etc)?
Your user details can be requested at any time via the Website Control Centre at http://website.orange.co.uk. Just log in and click on "my user details" in the left navigation bar. Now you can make changes by using the options navigation on the right side.

How can I terminate my subscription (Website Maker deluxe)?
The notice of termination must be made in writing and sent to our partner MAGIX via email to orange-shop@magix-website.com The period of notice is eight weeks before expiry. The termination request must be received by our partner MAGIX before then. Please read more on this in our Terms & Conditions.



Orange Website Maker won't start
Check that your computer fulfils all the system requirements. Often problems with the Internet connection are the main cause. You should also make sure that the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (www.adobe.com) is installed.

Slideshows won't play
Make sure that you have installed the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player (www.macromedia.com).
To test it, create a new album with a few photos and try to add it as a slideshow. If the same problems should arise, please contact our support team.

My music won't play!
Make sure that the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (www.adobe.com) is installed. Check to see if the volume is loud enough and that the loudspeakers or headphones are connected properly.

Note: With large audio files it may take longer to load and play the music depending on the Internet connection.

My videos won't play!
Orange Website Maker supports the video format FLV (Flash Video). Make sure that your video was converted correctly after the upload.

When I open the page all I see is an empty screen!
Install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (www.adobe.com). If the same problems should arise, please contact our support team.

What are website projects?
Website projects provide you with the opportunity of trying out various different templates without having to delete your previous designs. This way you can find out which templates suit you the most and then change them according to your requirements.

How do I set up projects?
There are two ways to set up a new project. If your website does not yet have a design, for example, when starting up Website Maker for the first time, you automatically arrive at the selection dialog for a new project (design). If you wish to set up another new project, use the main menu (option "More") and select "New website".

How do I load an already created website project?
Use the option "More" to open the main menu of your Website Maker. Here, select the option "Open". An overview of all your previous projects will open. Select one of these projects.

How do I delete a website project?
The current project can be deleted via the "Delete" button in the main menu list (option "More"). If you wish to delete a project which is currently inactive, select the menu point "Open". Here simply select the red cross beside the project name of the project that you wish to delete.

How do I create new websites (subpages) for my website project?
You can duplicate and rework pages or create a new page altogether. To add a new page, click on the "New site" button in the page overview. You can then choose if you wish to edit a pre-defined page or design a new page ("Empty").

Alternatively, you can copy an existing page from your project and edit it later on. To do so, please select the page you wish to copy with a click. Then click on the "Options" icon to open the list of all available options. Choose "Duplicate site".

How do I delete websites from my website project?
There are two ways. You can use the main menu (option "More") and here the option "Delete". That will delete the currently opened site of your website project. Or click on the "Options" icon in the page panel and choose the option "Delete site".

Why doesn't anything appear when I open my subdomain "http://name.website.orange.co.uk"?
You have to publish your current project in order to make your website publicly available. Select "Publish" from the upper menu bar (right side). Your website will then be visible to all Internet users.

How do I export my website completely and integrate it into other websites?
Select the main menu point "Export website" and follow the instructions on the screen. Use your mouse to select and copy the HTML code displayed. Now you can insert HTML source code into the desire website. That's it!
Note: You have to publish your current website project prior to doing this!

How do I export individual players from my website and integrate them into other websites?
Double-clicking on the desired player opens the Properties panel. Set up the player the way you want it and click on "Export object...". The "Export" page will then open. Copy the HTML source code with your mouse and then add it to your chosen website using HTML Editor.

How do I change the pre-defined websites (subpages)?
Double-click on the page name (right-hand panel) you wish to change. Then enter a new name for the page.

How do I change the background so that it's the same on all websites (subpages)?
Click on "Background" at the bottom of Website Maker, the background available for all subpages will then open. Make changes here that you want to apply to all pages. Then click again on "Background" to return to page editing mode.

How do I change the navigation so that it's the same on all websites (subpages)?
Click on "Navigation" at the bottom of Website Maker. The navigation overview now opens. You can now select navigation from the object overview and insert it.


How can I integrate objects into my website?
In the object overview you have a large choice of objects. Select a category from the explorer tree (for example, decoration). Here you can, for example, search for a new header or enhance your website with animations. Simply drag them into the website window to edit them.

How do I set internal and external links?
Select the object which should be made into a link. Double-click on this or click on the properties panel. Then select the point "Links" from the properties Overview. Now you can set it as an internal or external hyperlink. With internal links, simply enter the page to which it should link. With external links, enter the full URL to which the object should link. You can also set whether or not a new window should open. You can also link to an email address.

How do I colour objects?
Select the object to which you wish to add colour. Double-click on the object or click on the properties panel. Then select the point "Colour in" from the properties Overview. You can set the colour (in the palette or as a hexadecimal number) and the intensity/ratio using the fader (left-right). If you use the colour palette to colour in objects, please make sure you adjust the fader beside the palette to the desired setting as, otherwise, black will be chosen automatically.

How do objects get animated?
Select the object you wish to animate. Double-click on this or click on the properties panel. Then select the point "Animation" from the Properties Overview. Select an animation with a click. A preview of the animation can be shown by double-clicking on it. You can then have the animation loop by selecting the loop animation function.

What's the best way to format texts?
Use your mouse to select the text you wish to format, just like you're used to from normal text editing programs. Then open the properties panel. Now you can use the field with the name "Text format", where you can format the text (font size, font, color, etc.).

How do I load my own files (photos, videos, music, documents...) into Website Maker?
You can add new files into Website Maker by doing the following. In the object panel under "My Media" you can choose "Uploaded". Select "Uploaded" and then the file type ("Pictures", "Music" , "Videos", "Others") that you wish to add to your website. Below the window you'll find a list of the files which you have already uploaded into Website Maker. If the desired file is not there, simply click on "Upload" at the bottom of the window and load pictures, videos & music or other documents from your hard disk directly into the website maker web storage space.
Note: You can find your uploaded documents in "Others".

How do I set up photo, video or music players?
Select the medium for which you wish to create a player. Drag the medium into your page. A standard player is set up for each. These can then be changed in the properties field. To do so, simply double-click on the player. Here you can change the "Player skin".

Can I change the pre-defined names of a website project?
Your website project is saved as standard with the name "My website X". The "X" here stands for the number of the projects created – i.e. "My Website 5" is the fifth project you've created; to change this name, use the "Save As" main menu point. Here you can enter the name of your project and confirm it by clicking "OK".

How do I delete objects from my website?
Select an object and delete it by clicking on "Delete" above the workspace or pressing the "Delete" key on your keyboard.

How do I change between websites (subpages)?
If you wish to change the page, you have two options to choose from. You can change the page using the page panel simply by clicking on the desired page or by using the change arrows on the lower bar beside the page name.

Which media types does Website Maker support?
Website Maker supports jpg, gif (non animeted), wmv, avi, mp3, xls, pdf, doc, ppt and so on. Video files will be converted to the video output format FLV (Flash Video) after the upload.

How can my website be found faster by search engines (like Google)?
In the "Settings..." option (main menu) you have lots of options to choose from to make your website be found faster. Make sure your website has a succinct title. Think about keywords you would use to find your site during a web search. To increase your chances of being found during a search, enter a very meaningful description for your website.
