Air routes over former bases will depend upon weather conditions, local restrictions by the RAF and other organisations. LBBT can offer four different options for a flight plan. However, plans coluld be bespoke tailored to a customers requirements. The Flight Options are arranged to suit each guest. Half hour or one hour flights are the usual, but we shall assist in your precise requirements.
OPTION 1Fly from Wickenby with Gerry Cooper in a DeHavilland Tiger Moth. For so many RAF pilots, this aircraft was their first introduction to flying in the most basic of trainers. Easy to fly but hard to fly well. Very much a `stick and rudder? aeroplane. You can, if you wish take control of the joystick and fly on a general landing flight or fly over several war time bomber bases. Our staff at Wickenby will provide you with period flying equipment, a sheepskin flying jacket, leather helmet, goggles and gloves.A preflight briefing covering safety aspects, the flight details, headings etc will be given, after which you will be invited to board the aircraft, in the front seat. Staff will assist you in this function helping with the safety straps and correct tensions.
OPTION 2Same as option one except that we program in the chance to land out at another licensed airfield. You may wish to look around there at other aircraft etc or just have lunch or a snack. This just adds a new dimension to the flight. Landing fees will be payable but this can be factored into the pricing of the day or given period.
OPTION 3Bring a friend and take out two Tiger Moths! One of you in each aircraft. The thrill of flying in tandem just has to be experienced to be believed. OPTION 4As in option 1 or 3 but with a precise program of airfields to fly over and view. There are 24 bomber bases and a total of 49 former RAF bases in Lincolnshire.
