Mike Penberthy, a member of the club, will be running in the London Marathon in April 09 to raise money for our Club and SLSA GB. Please follow the link on our "Links" page to his donation site or see him at the Club. Here are some of the reasons why he's doing it. "I will try and share with you what getting involved in Surf Life Saving GB and Hayle SLSC has done for my family. For a start it was something we could all do together and covered such a wide variety of things we weren?t in any danger of getting bored with it, as well as learning new skills such as swimming, board and ski paddling and first aid. I am hoping to raise plenty of money for Surf Life Saving, half for the Association and half for my Club, because it is such a good cause. I have helped with our club?s Nipper section for the last 11 years and have seen at first hand the amazing benefits and achievements that being a member of this organisation can bring. Both my sons have benefited greatly from being involved with Surf Life Saving ? they are qualified Lifeguards, Instructors and Examiners and have gained much self esteem and a great sense of achievement. They have both gained employment as a result of the qualifications and experience they have gained through Surf Life Saving and they are not alone.So please, please donate lots of money to our very deserving cause. There can?t be many organisations that provide the opportunity to learn such a wide range of skills that can be used within the Community, become a vocation in adulthood and at the same time keep you physically fit, aware of the dangers of the beach environment and with the ability to help others be it in a rescue, first aid situation or just some helpful advice.Donating through justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.
