THIS SITE IS BEING RECONSTRUCTED AND WILL BE UP SOON. A few years ago I was fortunate to visit the Crumlin Road gaol in Belfast. The prison had recently closed and the place was deserted. During a tour of C wing I was shown into the execution cells that were housed at the end of the building. It was on this visit that I first came into contact with the apparatus used in judicial executions. I left the gaol and my initial feelings of apprehension had been replaced by curiosity.
