RESULTS-YOUTH NATIONAL CHAMPS AT PORTREATH ON 23/34 AUGUST 08: Hayle Juniors did extremely well despite a very small team compared to many other clubs. The 10 strong squad came an incredible 6th overall (boys were 7th and girls were also 7th overall) and every member of the team contributed to the overall score. To win a medal at a National event is a great achievement as the standard is normally very high, I am very pleased to report that we won 2 Gold, 2 Silver & 4 Bronze medals and Jordan received a lovely trophy for winning the U14 Iron Man event. Medal winners were: - 13 yr olds: Amy Jollly with a Bronze in the Beach flags. 14 yr olds: Jordan Roberts with Golds in the Board race and Iron Man (swim, board & ski), Silver in the 1km run and Bronze in the Beach Sprint; Emily Corin with a Silver in the 1km run and Tom Onley with a Bronze in the Surf race (swim). The Under 14 Mixed Beach Relay team also won a bronze medal, they were 13 year olds Matt Trewhella & Charlotte Sawyer and 14 yr olds Jordan Roberts & Emily Corin. Other team members were Alice Cutler-Lukes, Ben Jolly and Georgina & Victoria Littlewood. Woolacombe won the event, followed by Saunton Sands, Rhoose, Portreath, St Ives then Hayle! Congratulations to 14 yr old Jordan Roberts on his selection for the Cornwall Youth Team that attended the Youth Challenge at Aberavon in South Wales on Sunday 31 August. Cornwall were 3rd overall and Jordan won 2 Gold & 1 Silver medals.

From Monday 22 September there will be no more Monday or Friday evening sessions at the club due to the lack of daylight. Last Wednesday evening training session at clubhouse was on 1 October so no more sessions until next Spring when evenings get lighter again.

Fantastic news - Thanks to Junior member, Jordan Roberts we have been awarded a £4000 grant by "Our money, your dream" for 2 new rescue boards, 2 full size adjutable ski's and a guppy adjustable ski to assist our 14 to 19 year old members to improve their skills. Thank you to Matt Trewhella's Dad for telling us about the fund.
