WELCOME TO THE NEW RHEIDOL WEBSITE created July 2008

The Rheidol stud was founded in 1984 with the purchase of a filly foal from Harry & Vivien Parsons' Quinton Stud. After a successful ridden season, Quinton Caroline was covered by Dukeshill Action Man and produced the stud's first foal in 1990. Rheidol Crusader was a big winner in hand as a youngster, and went on to be very successful under saddle for a variety of riders. Carly was covered by Action Man again in 1993, and produced R. Charlie Boy, who followed in his brother's footsteps to become a succesful performance pony.

1992 saw the purchase of Dukeshill Desert Wind at Fayre Oaks. Des is still with us after 16 happy years, during which he has had great success in the showring and has bred many beautiful and useful ponies. The highlight of Des' career was his win in the 2002 WP&CS Performance Awards - beating the famous Heniarth Quip into 2nd place. Various mares have come and gone as Des wives, but special mention must be made of Morningwood Serenade, who was purchased to replace Carly's Revel Choice bloodlines. Seren has founded a dynasty at Rheidol where we have 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters to continue her line.

14/7/08 We received an email today from Lisa Perrott of the Ty Golau stud who leased Des a few years ago. His daughter Ty Golau Crystal was 2nd in a strong class at Aberystwyth Show. She is now owned by the Glanteifi Stud. Well done to all concerned.

24/7/08 R. Sharki left for his new home today - best wishes to Hannah and the gang.

15/8/08 After a long time out of the showring, we were delighted with R. Sabrina's 3rd place at Ponies(UK) today. Thanks to April for producing and showing her so well.

4/10/08 News of R.Madonna who was sold earlier this year to Jersey. She came first in her HDT Novice section in her first outing for her new owners.

1/11/08 R.Shannara has gone to be broken in, while R. Sabrina is on loan, and will be kept in ridden work during the winter, rather than joining her family on the winter grazing.

16/11/08 We took both foals to the Midland Welsh Association Show at Solihull today, and were surprised and delighted to win the colt foal class with R. Solstice. R. Sinaya was placed 4th in the filly class. This was Sam's first time showing in hand, so she did really well at what was meant to be a 'practice' event!
