ROCKETFEST 416 March 2008by Dave LunnSomeone once said to me 'I reckon you're a secret Tommy and the Oddballs fan'...I said 'That's a lie...it's not a secret at all'.Gam had gotten an excellent sound all weekend and The Oddballs were treated to the same.Tommy (aka John) was well up for it with his banter being hilarious. Cracks about the dole, the Toon and other bands were all made 'tongue in cheek' as he turned from John to 'Tommy' in a heartbeat.The Oddballs cannot fail and they always, always pack oubs out. the German's could invade again and they'd stop at the pub to see this band before they carried on.Pinball wizard, Squeeze Box, Substitute, Brown Sugar..all done very well with Jeff and John showing they 'sure play a mean Les Paul'...see what I did then .Tom was out in the crowd, showing off his abs saying '47 years old and no fat'...just to prove it I showed mine...he was right.He was dancing and laughing as they powered through 'Blowin' Free' and they went on to end the night with T Rex and a punk medley including The Buzzthingys and I fought The Law By The ClashI can watch the Oddballs for hours...I bet most people could.And the man himself.....he's a f*cking giant. Nuff said.
