While the lifeboat was at sea on a training exercise, assistance was requested by Newbiggin Sailing Club following an incident at sea by one of its dingies. In a position east of the bay a child had sustained a leg injury and required immediate evacuation to hospital. The lifeboat brought the child to the boathouse where first aid was administered until she was transported to hospital by ambulance.
