Newbiggin Coastguards, requested the launch of the lifeboat, after a member of the public had informed them of three children on the old breakwater. With the tide still rising they were now cut off and unable to get ashore. The lifeboat launched, proceeded to the breakwater collected the children and landed them safely on the beach.
